Once again,
Frostburg State University is predicted to successfully defend their women's
soccer title for the fifth consecutive year, according to
the 2005 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference pre-season coaches’ poll.
But last season's runner up, Penn State Behrend, is expected to
challenge from the #2 spot. The poll ranks all ten teams for
the first time.
Preseason
Player of the Year honors were awarded to Pitt-Greensburg forward
Jen McIntosh (South Park HS/South Park, PA). The senior is
a three-time first team all-conference selection and the 2002
Newcomer of the Year. She was the league's second leading
scorer in 2004, collecting 19 goals (4 game-winners) and 11 assists
for 45 points.
The AMCC kicks off conference play on Saturday, September 24.
The conference championship will be Saturday, November 5 at the
highest remaining seed. The winner will receive the AMCC's
automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
