LAKE ERIE COLLEGE PICKED TO WIN
FIRST AMCC MEN'S BASKETBALL TITLE
 


Lake Erie College is expected to step to the head of the class in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference men's basketball standings for 2005-06.  The AMCC coaches voted the Storm to finish first, ahead of defending champion Penn State Behrend and 2004 title-holder La Roche College.  The winner of the AMCC tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

LEC junior center Jajcen Harris (Cleveland Heights, OH/Villa Angela-St. Joseph's HS) is the coaches' selection as Preseason Player of the Year.  Harris was a member of the all-conference first team last season, averaging 14.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, and a 54.1 FG%, seventh best in the country in Division III.

SR F Marcus McIntyre (Washington, DC/Wilson HS)...Averaged 13.0 ppg and.9.0 rpg over final 7 games of 2004-05...shot 78.9% from the free throw line and 45.5% from the field...finished with 5.3 rpg and 6.3 ppg.

SO G Mike Reyes (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon HS)...Started all 25 games at point guard...ranked third in the conference in assists per game (4.16).

Head Coach Scott Lang (9th year)
2004-05:  10-8 AMCC, 13-14 overall

SR G Ismael Mbana-Makina (Equatorial New Guinea/Rey Malabo)...Only senior on the team...missed last season due to injury...member of the 2004 championship team... averaged 6.0 ppg and 3.0 rpg.

 SO F Nate Davis (New Kensington, PA/Cheswick Christian)...Contributed 5.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg and 1.0 spg...played in all 27 games, started 12.

SR F Justin Ohler (Stoystown, PA/North Star HS)...Led AMCC in both scoring and rebounding last year with 20.9 ppg and 8.5 rpg...played an average of only 23 minutes per game...second team all-conference selection.

JR G Roman Mims (Cleveland Heights, OH/Cleveland Heights HS)...Team's third leading scorer and fifth in the league with 16.2 ppg...shot 78% from the free throw line...also had 4.8 rpg.
 

PENN STATE ALTOONA
Head Coach Alan Seretti (1st year)
2004-05:  7-11 AMCC, 9-16 overall

JR G Tyler Franklin (Altoona, PA/Altoona HS)...Second team All-AMCC last season...contributed 22.7 ppg, 4.9 rpg and shot 52.9% from the field.

SR G Ethan Stewart-Smith (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte HS)...All-conference honorable mention in 2004-05...contributed 13.6 ppg and 4.4 apg, second best in the AMCC...also shot 51.2% from three-point range.

2004-05:  14-4 AMCC, 19-8 overall

SR G Justin Jennings (Pittsburgh, PA/Seneca Valley HS)...Three-year starter, led team in minutes played...part of team that earned two back-to-back NCAA bids...contributed 2.9 apg and shot 39.8% from three-point range.

Head Coach Andy Moore (13th year)
2004-05:  10-8 AMCC, 13-13 overall

JR F Ryan Race (Bradford, PA/Bradford HS)...Averaged 12.2 ppg and 6.2 rpg last season...led the team in minutes played...named to the All-AMCC honorable mention team.

JR G Dan Thomas (Perth, Australia/Fort Lebeof HS)...Contributed 12.0 ppg and 2.5 apg as a sophomore...team's best free throw shooter at 89.4%.
