Frostburg State University is predicted to retain their women's
soccer title for the third consecutive year, according to
the 2003 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference pre-season coaches’ poll.
The Bobcats received five of seven first place votes, followed by a
close race between Penn State Behrend and La Roche College
for two-three in the standings. Frostburg State will be led by Preseason
Player of the
Year Karen Kotofski (Northeast HS/ Glen Burnie, MD), a junior
forward who was a first-team All-AMCC selection and a regional
All-America last season. Scoring a team-high 17 goals,
Kotofski led the Bobcats to an upset win in the AMCC championship
game and an independent bid to the NCAA Div. III tournament.
Her team will be challenged through the season by both Penn State
Behrend, a perennial force with four AMCC titles to their credit,
and La Roche, the top conference team in the regular season in 2002.
